Future of Internet Governance and the IANA Stewardship Transition
INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS
US CHAPTER EVENT
MONDAY 8 JUNE 2015
HOSTED BY Verizon Communications
Suite 400 West, 1300 I Street, NW 4th Floor, Washington, DC 20005
The US Chapter of the IIC held its initial event of the year in early June by having Fadi Chehadé, ICANN’s CEO, share his views on ICANN – its past, present and future, the transition to IANA – they whys and wherefores, the multi-stakeholder process – its recent history and present state. A very clever description of the internet’s ecosystem was shared which clarified what ICANN and what it is not. Those attending learned more about the organizational maturing that ICANN has accomplished in the past few years, and heard where ICANN plans to head in the near future. Verizon Communications was kind enough to organize and coordinate the hosting. The well attended event not only was an informative conversation, but carried on with a candid Q&A session, and convened with a reception.
