On April 5th 2017 the Italian Chapter of the IIC held its annual general meeting at the Agcom venue, kindly hosted by commissioner Antonio Nicita, a member of the chapter Board of Directors.
After a report from the President Augusto Preta and the approval of the annual budget, the general meeting discussed the programme and organisation of the event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Chapter that will take place in Rome next November. The event will be jointly organised with the institutional member Agcom, the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority and with the support of RAI. It will also benefit from the endorsement of the main industry players. The IIC is expected to collaborate with the chapter, fostering a top level participation of policy makers and industry representatives.
The conference will be an occasion to highlight the major milestones in the twenty years of activity of the Chapter and set up the basis for future accomplishments in the communications sector. For this purpose the general meeting approved the making of a video on the 20 years of activity of the Italian Chapter to be presented during the anniversary conference.
The Italian Chapter also decided to dedicate to the memory of Antonio Preto, strong supporter of the IIC and Board member of the Italian Chapter who passed away last year, a prize and a scholarhip which will be awarded for the first time on the occasion of the anniversary conference in November and will then become an annual event.
Enzo Cheli, former Agcom president and member of the Chapter, will chair the commission awarding the prize that will include distinguished professionals, experts and academics from the communications sector with specific competences in the legal, economic, technological and mass-media fields. Every year the prize will be assigned to a personality who has contributed to the development of communications at international level. The scholarship will be granted to a young student graduated in economic or legal studies.
The general meeting confirmed Augusto Preta president of the Italian Chapter and appointed Sandro Frova, Raffaele Giarda, Francesco Graziadei, Erik Lambert, Franco Morganti and Antonio Nicita (Agcom) as members of the Executive Board.
