Session 1: Convergence and the issues it raises

  • How has convergence affected traditional forms of communication – where does broadcasting (television and radio) sit? Fixed line telephony? Do they need to be safeguarded?
  • Differential regulations for different platforms and services – what does convergence mean at a practical level?
  • Are the issues the same for converged markets as they were for telecommunications or media?
  • What are the key challenges: Over-the-Top players, new applications, net neutrality, interconnection charging, protection of the consumer?
