Deputy Director for Competition, Competition and State Aid Directorate, EFTA Surveillance Authority
Emily O’Reilly currently holds the position of Deputy Director for Competition in the EFTA Surveillance Authority with responsibility for investigating possible infringements of the EEA competition rules, as well as for coordinating information exchange on EEA cases between the European Commission and the national competition authorities in the EEA EFTA States.
Prior to this, Ms O’Reilly worked as a Market Analysis Manager with the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) in Ireland, responsible for analysing and designing regulatory measures for a number of wholesale markets in the Irish telecoms sector. During a secondment with the Directorate General for Information Society and Media in the European Commission (now DG Connect), Ms O’Reilly also worked with the team responsible for assessing national regulatory measures notified under the EU consultation mechanism for electronic communications. An economist by training, Ms O’Reilly started her career with the national competition authority in Ireland.
