Senior Vice President, Federal and International Government Relations, Verizon Communications
Peter Davidson is Senior Vice President - Federal and International Government Relations for Verizon. Since April 2003, Mr Davidson has been responsible for federal government advocacy including the company's relations with Congress and state and local organizations. He also is responsible for government relations and public policy matters related to Verizon’s international interests.
Before joining Verizon, Mr Davidson served as General Counsel at the office of the United States Trade Representative supporting negotiation and implementation of trade agreements and supervising litigation at the World Trade Organization.
Prior to becoming General Counsel to the USTR in February 2001, Mr Davidson was Vice President for Congressional Affairs at USWest, and then Qwest, coordinating all federal legislative activities for that company.
From January 1995 until June 1999, Mr Davidson served as the General Counsel and Policy Director to the Majority Leader of the US House of Representatives, as General Counsel and Policy Director for the House Republican Conference and as Attorney-Advisor in the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel. He also served as law clerk to Judge John Porfilio on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, CO.
Mr Davidson is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and received his JD degree from the University of Virginia, where he served on the Virginia Law Review
