Head, Regulation Affairs and Competition, Communications Regulatory Authority of Qatar (CRA)

Dr Rainer Schnepfleitner currently heads the Regulation Affairs and Competition Department of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) in Doha, where he is responsible for the regulatory frameworks of Telecommunications, IT, Access to Digital Media and Post.
In May 2019 he will assume the post of the Head of the Office of Communications in Liechtenstein. His will focus on the regulation of Telecommunications, Media and Digital Signature.
He started his career in telecommunications with the Austrian Regulatory Authority. Later he gained expertise in European antitrust and state aid provisions while working with the European Commission in DG Competition. In 2003 he moved to Swisscom, where he headed the department of Regulatory Accounting and established a cost model for Swisscom Mobile before introducing various mobile navigation solutions.
After finishing his IT degree ,Dr Schnepfleitner studied Business Administration and Economics in Vienna, where he graduated with a PhD in Economics. He also holds a post graduate degree in European Competition Law from King’s College in London.
