Anatel, Brazil's national telecoms Agency (Anatel) has approved an investment programmr and corrective measures proposed by operator Oi and worth an estimated BRL3.2 billion, notes Telecom Paper. "The plans would expand the coverage and quality of telecommunications services, especially fixed and mobile broadband. The funds will be used over four years mainly in locations where telecoms infrastructure is poor or non-existent." The goal is to provide 3G to 84% of the Brazilian urban population (currently 79.5%).
