IIC Italy - AGM and proposed activities for 2018

Joint IIC - Italian Chapter and Agcom workshop

On May 9th 2018, the members of the IIC - Italian Chapter held their annual general meeting at the Agcom venue at the presence of the President Augusto Preta, commissioner Antonio Nicita, Agcom chapter representative, and other members of the chapter.

After a report from the President and the approval of the annual budget, the President opened the discussion about the relationship between IIC Global and the Italy Chapter. The President informed that there are important news, including membership and the new Young Professional category. He also informed that a joint initiative of the chapters Italy / UK / Brussels should start, to develop a series of events starting from 2019. During the discussion Antonio Nicita suggested as a common subject the reform of the electronic communications code in Europe. The GM seconded the idea and gave a mandate to the President, to finalize this proposal in a meeting in London with the Presidents of the two chapters and the Director General.

Moving on to the discussion of the third item on the agenda, the Chairman informed about the progress of the evaluation of the winners of the “ Antonio Preto -Youth Prize”. The President announced that the program of the event of this year have to be defined yet, in the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the Agcom and proposed the date on which this meeting will take place, possibly in Naples, for 9th November. The President communicated the need to implement a new rule with appointments of new members of the Jury. Finally, Antonio Nicita informed that Fabrizio Della Nogare, a dear friend of Antonio Preto, wants to promote a scholarship.

Finally, moving on to discussing the fourth item on the agenda the President informed that it would be possible this year to plan a further event, on topics of electronic communications, audiovisual and internet. Antonio Nicita proposed "Models of network separation and infrastructural competition". Sandro Frova proposed to involving no more than 20 people in order to make the debate flexible and dynamic and to realize it in September. The proposal was approved.
