Alan Knott-Craig Jr.
CEO, Project Isizwe; Executive Chairman, Hero Telecoms
Alan Knott-Craig founded and became CEO in 2013 of Project Isizwe, a non-profit company managing the deployment of the largest public free Wi-Fi network in Africa. Mr Knott-Craig is also Chairman of Hero Telecoms, a wireless broadband provider; Happimo NPC, a non-profit focused on GovTech opportunities; and Ever Africa, a mobile app development company.
Mr Knott-Craig was named as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2009. Forbes listed him as one of the top 10 young African millionaires to watch. He was also included in “100 Choiseul Africa", a list of top 100 young African business leaders in 2014, and nominated as a 2015 ICT Personality of the Year by ITWeb.
Originally from Pretoria, Mr Knott-Craig studied at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (formerly UPE) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002.
