The Thailand Chapter of the IIC aims to stimulate discussions among policy makers, industry professionals, academia, and stakeholders to contribute to the ever-changing communications landscape.
The Chapter’s past events have brought together experts from across the globe to shape discussions on media policy, digital ecosystem, and digital transformation. The events have been enriched by insight views of leading people from the industry and key public agencies such as the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).
The Chapter’s latest virtual event on data privacy at times of the COVID-19 explored various tools, including contact tracing applications, to ensure enough safeguard to individual’s privacy while it is necessary to use people’s data to meet objectives of curbing the pandemic.
This year, the Chapter plans to host another virtual event on a theme that relates to a misinformation in the precarious time (e.g. fake news, disinformation), and a response that is needed to foster media literacy to ensure trust in the society.
