The Economic Times reports that telecoms operators in India are focuses on ramping up the 4G network amid concerns over infrastructure and a high spectrum price expected for 5G. The paper quotes a Citi Research report that, while India leap-frogged 3G to 4G, the increasing data demands in India mean that telcos are focusing solely on enhancing 4G network coverage and capacity. With balance sheets stretched, the report says, 5G adoption in India remains unclear. A 5G spectrum auction is expected in the second half of 2020.
