AUDIOVISUAL DIRECTIVE UPDATE

A review of the European Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) had been expected for a while,1 and it is now one element of the European Commission’s digital single market strategy. Once again, we see the Commission proposing the rollout rather than the rollback of regulation in the face of sector change – and the following is an overview of some of the main issues.
