Serbia adopts new communications law
The Serbian government has adopted a new law on electronic communications that will bring the nation into full compliance with the EU’s 2009 regulatory framework, notes TeleGeography. Secretary of State for Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, said in a statement that the new structure will eliminate the deficiencies of the current system. Among the changes to be implemented under the updated framework is the requirement for operator to register pre-paid users. Further, the minister stated that the new law will establish conditions for more efficient use of spectrum resources. “The new [framework] will enable the improvement of the operations of electronic communications operators, the strengthening of competition on the market, and better protection of the rights of users of electronic communications services,” the official added.
