Secretary General, Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)

Claude Doucet is Secretary General at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), with responsibility for the secretariat function of the Commission, as well as finance, human resources and IM/IT.

He is an accomplished senior public servant with over 25 years of experience in communications and policy development. He has extensive experience in communications, social media and client services at both the CRTC and Department of Canadian Heritage. He’s promoted and planned communications for high-profile events such as the development of the logo for Canada’s 150th Anniversary, the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2015 Pan-American Games and Royal Tours. He spent the first part of his career developing an expertise in broadcasting policy and regulatory work at both the Department of Canadian Heritage and the CRTC.

From 2009 to 2015, he was an observer on the board of directors of MediaSmarts, a Canadian charitable organization that promotes media and digital literacy. He has been a governor at the Ottawa Hospital since 2016, and is currently Chair of the communications and engagement committee.

Mr Doucet holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Laurentian University (1991) and has been a Chartered Professional Accountant since 1996.

À titre de secrétaire général au Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications canadiennes (CRTC), Claude Doucet est responsable du secrétariat du CRTC, ainsi que les finances, les ressources humaines et la GI/TI.

Haut fonctionnaire fédéral chevronné, il compte plus de 25 ans d’expérience en communications et en élaboration de politiques. Il a une vaste expérience aux niveaux des communications stratégiques, des médias sociaux et des relations avec la clientèle, tant au CRTC qu’à Patrimoine canadien. Il a promu et planifié les communications pour de grands événements, créant notamment le logo pour le 150e anniversaire du Canada, les Jeux olympiques et paralympiques de 2010, les Jeux panaméricains de 2015 et des voyages royaux. M. Doucet a fait ses armes en politiques et réglementation de la radiodiffusion au sein de Patrimoine canadien et du CRTC.

De 2009 à 2015, il a été observateur au conseil d’administration de MediaSmarts, œuvre de bienfaisance canadienne favorisant l’initiation aux médias et au monde numérique. Il est gouverneur à l’hôpital d’Ottawa depuis 2016 et est présentement le Président du comité des communications et de l’engagement.

M. Doucet détient un baccalauréat en commerce (finances) de l’Université Laurentienne (1991) et possède la désignation de comptable général accrédité depuis 1996
