Jared Carlson

Jared Carlson returned to the Federal Communications Commission in 2023 and has served as Deputy Chief of the FCC’s Office of International Affairs, advising Commission leadership on trusted telecom supply chains, spectrum policy, foreign ownership, and global standards coordination. Between August 2024 and May 2026, he held multiple positions in the White House – as Director for Telecommunications and Emerging Technology at the National Security Council and as Senior Advisor for Telecommunications and Spectrum at the Office of Science and Technology Policy. In those roles, he lead interagency initiatives on spectrum allocation, telecom security, and 6G policy.

Before returning to government, Jared spent over 15 years at Ericsson (2007–2023), serving as Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy, where he directed regulatory strategy, supply chain security initiatives, and spectrum auction advocacy. He previously held senior roles at Sprint Nextel (2004–2007) and spent seven years at the FCC earlier in his career (1997–2004) working on wireless policy, legislative affairs, and major telecom mergers. His long-standing international engagement includes serving on multiple official U.S. delegations to ITU Plenipotentiary Conferences and other global telecommunications meetings over more than 15 years.

Jared holds a J.D. from William & Mary and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.
