Maria Ortiz Aguilar

Member of the Board, National Authority for Competition and Markets (CNMC), Spain

Ms Maria Ortiz Aguilar has been a Member of the Board of the Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition since September 2013 and was reappointed in July 2017.

She has worked principally as an economist in the fields of Competition and Regulation. Previously she was Deputy Director General of Studies in the former Competition Defence Court; Deputy Director General for Legislation and Institutional Relations in the former Competition Investigation Unit (Servicio de Defensa de la Competencia) and Deputy Director General for Competition and Economic Regulation in the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. She was also Economic and Trade Adviser in the Spanish Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels and Economic and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She joined the Public Administration in 1992 as a Trade Expert and State Economist .

Ms Ortiz holds a degree in Law from the Complutense University in Madrid.
