Chief of Consumer, Research and Communications, Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)

As Chief of Consumer, Research and Communications, Scott Hutton is responsible for the formulation of the CRTC’s consumer and social policies. He also directs communications strategies and oversees the international branch, while providing technical and economic support to the Commission.

Mr Hutton brings to the role over 25 years of experience at the CRTC and has extensive knowledge of both the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors. He is a seasoned expert of the communications industry and the regulatory environment.

Mr Hutton leads the Commission’s work by engaging in a conversation with Canadians, key stakeholders and industry leaders, and partners with other government departments, moving along the road of legislative and regulatory reform; striving to meet the needs of Canadians in the digital era.

Mr Hutton has been CRTC’s Official Languages Champion, Employment Equity Champion and has led a number of Government Workplace Charitable Campaigns for the Commission.


À titre de dirigeant principal de la consommation, de la recherche et des communications, Scott Hutton est chargé de formuler les politiques sociales et de consommation du CRTC. Il dirige également les stratégies de communication et supervise la direction internationale, tout en apportant un soutien technique et économique au Conseil.

Monsieur Hutton apporte à ce poste plus de 25 ans d’expérience au CRTC. Il possède une connaissance approfondie des secteurs de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications et est un expert chevronné de l’industrie des communications et de l’environnement réglementaire.

Monsieur Hutton dirige le travail du Conseil en engageant la conversation avec les Canadiens, avec les principaux intervenants et chefs de file de l’industrie ainsi qu’avec les partenaires d’autres ministères, en poursuivant la réforme législative et réglementaire et en s’efforçant de répondre aux besoins des Canadiens à l’ère numérique.

Il a été champion des langues officielles du CRTC, champion de l’équité en matière d’emploi et a dirigé un certain nombre de Campagnes de charité en milieu de travail du gouvernement pour le Conseil.
