The BBC has announced budget cuts of £221M in programming and related areas. 2,050 jobs will be lost, effectively reducing the workforce in content and output by 13%. The savings are to be achieved by 2008 and the BBC says the money will be reinvested back into programme-making. The cuts come on top of £139M savings already announced in the corporation's Professional Service divisions.
