Reuters reports comments from FCC chairman Ajit Pai that the regulator is planning to take action against carriers over the sale of real-time location data. It follows reports that a website flaw allowed the location of mobile phone customers to be tracked, and that aggregators were able to buy user data before ‘selling location-based services to a wide variety of companies’. A trade group responded that ‘carriers quickly investigated, suspended access to the data and subsequently terminated those programs.’
