A white paper published by Myanmar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) proposes a series of regulatory changes in order to achieve a series of broadband penetration and speed targets, reports Telegeography. The paper suggests that ‘Right of Way’ is a major barrier and must be addressed, and proposes an infrastructure database to enable a ‘check before you dig’ service to minimise accidental damage to networks. It is also seeking opportunities for infrastructure sharing for new broadband and 5G, as well as the release of additional spectrum.
