Nokia has announced various actions it has taken during the COVID-19 outbreak, including:

  • Monitoring the situation around the world, and taking precautionary measures to protect customer networks. Nokia shared a briefing from its Deepfield Data on the early effects of lockdowns on service provider networks, and has subsequently provided a number of insights into network traffic data as the situation around the world has evolved.
  • Its Threat Intelligence Lab is monitoring malware related to COVID-19, assessing new threats as they appear and then communicating their findings to service providers for onward briefing to staff and customers.
  • Deploying or re-deploying engineers to ensure network reliability and performance. Swiftly rolling out new networks where they are most needed, including in existing hospitals or in newly set up COVID-19 hospitals.
  • Launching a Global Donation Fund intended to support charities, hospitals, health clinics, and other frontline non-governmental organisations who are leading the fight against the coronavirus.
  • Developing a new camera that can take the temperature of 20 people every 30 milliseconds, using bespoke software and artificial intelligence.
