Home » COVID-19: What the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT), Mexico, is doing to help
The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) regulates telecommunications and broadcasting in Mexico. It has taken a number of steps to support the entities it regulates, and the consumers they serve, during the COVID-19 pandemic, including:
Ensuring that mobile operators will provide free access to official health information for consumers.
Suspending work on non-essential areas during the pandemic, to allow all efforts to be focused on critical areas.
Advising that consumers would receive health information via text message on their mobile phones.
Requesting that state and local authorities make every effort to support telecommunications and broadcasting providers in any way, to enable them to maintain services and make repairs for network resilience.
