The Utilities Regulation & Competition Authority (URCA) of The Bahamas is the regulator reponsible for the electronic communications and utilities sectors. The former includes fixed and mobile telephone services, spectrum and numbering, broadcasting including pay television and internet services. During the COVID-19 pandemic URCA has:

  • Published a public consultation document, Disaster Management Regulations for the Electronic Communication Sector in The Bahamas (ECS 03/2020) to seek feedback on the electronic communications networks and services it proposes to designate as Critical Electronic Communications Infrastructure. It also “stipulates the actions Critical Electronic Communications Infrastructure Providers must take during the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery phases of an Emergency or Disaster”.
