The All India Online Vendors Association has added to the allegations of violations of competition law by Amazon, reports Reuters. The group claims that Amazon India’s wholesale arm buys goods in bulk before selling them at a loss to traders who then go on to sell them on the platform at large discounts. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) had previously ordered an investigation into allegations surrounding Amazon and Flipkart in January this year. The news site points out that India had tightened regulations last year to deter steep discounts, but small sellers claim that Amazon uses complex business structures to bypass the restrictions.
