Social Media companies accused of failing to comply with take-down orders
Thailand’s Digital Ministry has filed legal complaints against Facebook and Twitter after they missed 15-day deadlines to remove content, reports Reuters. Google had apparently complied with the court order in time to avoid action. Thailand’s Digital Minister, Puttipong Punnakanta, said that the action was against the US parent companies and not the Thai subsidiaries, and that further takedown requests for more than 3,000 items would be filed. The requests are thought to concern a range of content, including pornography and criticism of the monarchy.
