Friedhelm Dommermuth

After graduating with a degree in economics, Friedhelm Dommermuth began his professional career in 1984 at an auditing firm. In the following years, he worked as a consultant at the German Federal Ministry of Eco-nomics, at the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OECD and at the Federal Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. From 1995 to 1997, MrDommermuth held the post of head of unit at the Federal Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. He was responsible for the areas of “Regulation of monopoly and mandatory services in the postal sector” and for “Special network access and interconnection” in the telecommunications sector. Subsequently, he worked at RegTP (the regula-tory authority that became BNetzA in 2005), where he started as deputy head of department. In 2001, he became head of department “Telecommu-nications Regulatory Economics”, which today also includes responsibilities in the fields of the expansion of gigabit networks, the Internet, and digitiza-tion.
