Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA), Belgium

The Higher Audiovisual Council is the independent administrative authority responsible for regulating the audiovisual media sector in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Created in 1987 in the form of a consultative body integrated into the administration of the French Community, the decree of July 24, 1997 granted it control and sanction powers alongside institutional independence.

More concretely, the CSA is responsible for regulating;

  • service publishers (RTBF, local television, private television and radio, on-demand and Internet services, web TV, web radios, multiplatform application services, etc.)
  • service distributors (cable distributors: Proximus, VOO, Telenet, etc.; digital terrestrial radio, satellite)
  • network operators .
