Katja Kmet Vrčko

Advisor to the Director for International Affairs, Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia (AKOS); Co-chair Cybersecurity and Resilience EWG at BEREC

Katja is a lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in the field of electronic communications from the perspective of a national regulatory authority. She currently serves as Advisor to the Director for International Affairs, following several years leading the Inspection Department at the Slovenian telecommunications regulator.

Throughout her career, she has gained extensive practical expertise in market regulation, the security and resilience of electronic communications networks and services, privacy and data protection, consumer protection, open internet regulation, and quality of service.

Since 2019, Katja has been co-chairing the BEREC Working Group on Cybersecurity and Resilience. In this role, she works closely with the NIS Cooperation Group, the European Commission, and ENISA on a broad range of cybersecurity and resilience issues of common European interest. She also served for several years as BEREC’s representative in the ENISA Advisory Group.
