A Round-table Discussion on the Future of the Video Content Industry in Singapore

Chapter Meetings

The IIC Singapore chapter held an event to discuss the future of the video content industry, with a focus on Singapore and markets across Asia. Rampant online piracy continues to inhibit the media sector from flourishing and innovating in the digital marketplace, and the discussion focused on how efforts to improve content protection are helping to unlock value and prevent market failures.

Hosted by CMS, the event featured respected thought leaders: Vivek Couto, Executive Director & Co-Founder, Media Partners Asia, Seow Eng Goh, Managing Director, Home, SingTel, Neil Gane, Executive Director of CASBAA’s Coalition Against Piracy and Joe Welch, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, Asia, 21st Century Fox, attracted roughly 50 industry leaders from across the globe, and sparked a vibrant discussion of the current state of the media industry.

Discussing the digital opportunities for video content and the methods to combat rampant online piracy, such as site blocking, continues to be an issue of great interest for stakeholders across Asia. The event proved very timely, thanks again to CMS for hosting and for their tasty CMS brews.
