Dr Geza Sapi has been working in the Chief Economist Team of DG Competition at the European Commission since 2013. Dr Sapi has been involved in several antitrust and merger investigations in sectors ranging from office supplies to various online industries. He has also worked on a large number of state aid cases, in particular in the fields of energy, transport and R&D.

Dr Sapi is author to several publications on antitrust (vertical mergers, targeted pricing and information exchange) as well as state aid control and is research affiliate with Dusseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). He is a regular presenter at academic conferences in the field of industrial economics. Prior to joining the European Commission, Dr Sapi worked as economist at the Hungarian Competition Authority and German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin).

He holds a PhD in industrial economics from Heinrich-Heine University Dusseldorf.
