Director of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Sector, Spanish National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC); Incoming BEREC Chair 2027

Alejandra de Iturriaga Gandini holds the position of Director of the Telecommunications and Audiovisual Sector at Spain’s National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) since 2013. Alejandra has an extensive career in the telecommunications sector with nearly 30 years of experience. Previously, she held the position of Director of Regulation at the former telecommunications market Commission CMT, since 1998.

Prior to join de Spanish telecom regulator, she worked as a lawyer specializing in public law and telecommunications at the consulting firm Price Waterhouse Cooper. Ms. de Iturriaga is responsible for managing, supervising and coordinating the CNMC activity on electronic communications and audiovisual services. Her functions in the electronic communications sector involve the analysis of electronic communications markets, reference offers, conflict resolution between operators, sanctioning procedures, and consultancy activity, amongst others.

Likewise, she has been BEREC Vice Chair, and also of the IRG Board in 2017, 2021 and 2025. This year 2026 she is Incoming Berec Chair 2027. Additionally, she takes part in the relevant international fora and maintains active collaboration with key stakeholders, both public and private.
