The Australian telecommunications company Telstra has taken a number of steps to help during the COVID-19 pandemic, including:
Providing small business and consumer mobile and mobile broadband customers with an additional 25GB of data, and offering unlimited home phone calls to pensioners, until the end of June 2020.
Providing personal and small business broadband customers with unlimited data until the end of June 2020.
Waiving late fees on bills between 19 March and Tuesday 30 June 2020, and offering flexible payment terms to customers who find themselves in financial difficulty.
Providing 20,000 students and teachers across Australia with internet access to educational content to support their online learning through the Department of Education and Catholic Education. Telstra is also working with several universities to increase their network capacity and global wide area network (WAN) access so students in Australia and overseas can continue with their studies.
Changing its network name to #StayHome to remind customers of the importance of following health advice and staying home.
Encouraging the use of its app for bill payment and other services, and producing self-service videos to help customers.
