We are currently updating our platform so you may experience some temporary disruptions or limited functionality

The Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunications (BIPT) / Institut belge des services postaux et des télécommunications (IBPT) is the responsible for regulating the electronic communications market, postal market and radio frequency spectrum in Belgium. Steps taken by the BIPT include:

  • Issuing a reminder to network operators that they must ensure business continuity and should plan staffing and activities to ensure that networks remain resilient and effective.
  • Extending the deadline for applications for the remaining available 4G spectrum.
  • Communicating with network operators to remind them of their responsiblities to maintain the essential communications networks during the pandemic, and of the need to ensure that any repairs are carried out swiftly to avoid disruption.
  • Advising service providers that they may make some points of sale available to consumers, for the repair of equipment and the sale of necessary equipment such as SIM cards and modems. The sale of new services is not permitted.
