The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is the official regulator of the South African communications, broadcasting and postal services sectors. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began ICASA has:

  • Made unused spectrum temporarily available to mobile operators to help them cope with increased demand for their services.
  • Displayed goverment information prominantly on their website to direct consumers and businesses to a reliable source of information on the virus and how it is affecting South Africa.
  • Extending deadlines for regulatory processes which have been affected by the country’s lockdown.
