The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) is the body responsible for regulating broadcast and internet content in South Korea. Steps taken during the COVID-19 pandemic include:

  • Removing disinformation or posts considered to be harmful, such as those targeting particular ethnicities, about the virus from the internet, including social media posts; and encouraging the reporting of such information.
  • Ruling against broadcasts which have made inaccurate claims about potential COVID-19 cures, or similar content deemed harmful to the public.

More information about the KCSC’s efforts will be coming soon.
