The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) is the executive arm of the Communications Authority which regulates the broadcasting and telecommunications industries in Hong Kong. OFCA is offering the following assistance to the community in Hong Kong in fighting off the COVID-19 pandemic:
Promoting the Government’s thematic website, Together, We Fight the Virus, via a prominent banner on OFCA’s website.
Working with broadcasting and telecommunications operators in Hong Kong to make ready business continuity plans for COVID-19 and encouraging them to adopt and review measures to ensure the resilience and reliability of their essential communications services.
Developing an emergency alert system on mobile telecommunications networks through which the Government will disseminate time-critical public announcements and messages, including those relating to COVID-19, to mobile phone users in Hong Kong.
Encouraging early adoption of 5G mobile technology by the community in Hong Kong through subsidising public and private entities on their 5G deployment projects.
