The International Telecoms Union has adopted the radio interface standards for 5G in its IMT-2000 recommendation says Telecommpaper. The standards are the 3GPP 5G-SRIT and 3GPP 5G-RIT from the 3GPP and 5Gi from the Telecommunications Standards Development Society India. After a collaborative evaluation involving member states, manufacturers, operators and standards organisations, the technologies were analysed as sufficiently detailed to enable worldwide compatibility, including roaming. The ITU began working on the global standard in 2012, says the website.
