The South African High Court has ordered regulator ICASA to pause the already-delayed 4G and 5G spectrum auction, reports total telecom. The ruling came as operator Telkom and broadcaster e.tv argued that the migration of broadcast services must be completed by June 30th, ensuring that the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands are fully available before being auctioned. Current plans are for the process to be completed by March 2022. The delay represents a headache for operators, says the news site, disrupting plans for the rollout of 5G. ICASA has confirmed that they will appeal the decision.
