‘EllaLink’ cable connecting Europe and Latin America completed

New network expected to boost business and scientific links

The EU has announced the splicing of the undersea cable in the BELLA (Building Europe Link to Latin America) data highway. The consortium says that the project is now moving to the commissioning stage, connecting data centres in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. The network is expected to be fully operational in the next few months, and will pave the way for cooperation in High Performance Computing and Earth Observation data.
