French 5G spectrum acquired for ‘broadly sensible prices’

Auction completed in just three days

All four operators came away from France’s 5G auction with similar amounts of spectrum, reports telecoms.com. Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile paid a total of 2.79 billion euros for 310 MHz of frequency in the 3.4 – 3.8 GHz band. The website compares the mid-band sale with other European countries, pointing out that the figures paid are in line with other major economies with the exception of Italy, which realised 4.35 billion euros for the sale of 200 MHz of spectrum.
