Reports on Google users’ movements in 131 countries will shortly be made available on a special website, reports the Economic Times. The data will chart ‘movement trends over time by geography’ rather than absolute numbers. The company hopes that such data will support government decisions about managing the pandemic. Reports will use ‘aggregated, anonymised’ data, and, in a bid to address privacy concerns, ‘artificial noise’ will be added to raw data to help ensure that personal information cannot be identified.
