The FBI, director of national intelligence and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have formed a task force to investigate a cyberattack which affected the government and companies over the weekend, reports the Financial Times. The breach resulted from malware being inserted into software updates sent by IT company SolarWinds, to its government and commercial clients. Experts believe the hack to be one of the most sophisiticated attacks on the US government for many years, and the full extent of the damage done ‘may never be known’, said the newspaper.
