Growth in services is attracting more attention from malicious actors, says research

ITWeb reports on research from security company Kaspersky Labs, showing the growth in attacks on streaming platforms. Top of the list was Netflix, with 22,000 infection attempts between January 2019 and April 2020. Modes of attack included phishing for account credentials and financial information as well as tricks to encourage the download of malware and adware by using the company’s names on malicious files. Of users in Africa, Egypt and South Africa were the top two targets. The research covered Hulu, Disney +, Apple TV Plus, and Amazon Prime Video.
