This White Paper on Internet of Things (“IoT”) drafted by the Digital Economy and Regulatory Modernization (DERM) Committee of the International Institute of Communications (IIC) MENA Chapter seeks to address the (global and regional) challenges raised by this transformative technology, with the objective of unlocking its potential. This document is designed to foster dialogue amongst the different stakeholders, and to offer guidance to governments and regulators in formulating policies related to IoT.

This briefing seeks to unpack some of the issues and is the first stage in a series of meetings across 2019 to enable policy makers to consider how best they can empower their communities to take advantage of the best of AI, while taking steps to safeguard against potential negatives. As with all IIC output the aim is to offer a forum for the exchange of ideas and information; we welcome your views, comments and, crucially, your involvement.
