Aaron Smith currently serves as Interim Chief Executive for the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda, the independent body which regulates Bermuda’s electronic communications and electricity sectors. Prior to assuming this role in February 2018, Mr Smith served as a Commissioner for the Authority for almost a year.
Mr Smith has worked in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry for over 25 years, starting with IBM Canada in 1989, before relocating to Bermuda to assume a senior management role with the IBM Bermuda Agency in 1998.
Mr Smith co-founded The Igility Group in 2003, a holding company which provided leadership and direction to several technology-related businesses in addition to the IBM Agencies in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands until divesting of those franchises in 2016.
Mr Smith has served as a Director for many private and publicly-traded organizations including those in the technology, financial services, education and not-for-profit sectors. He currently serves as a member of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and the Bermuda Government’s E-Commerce Advisory Board. He is the co-Chair of the Bermuda chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
Mr Smith holds a BSc from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the University of Windsor.
