Adolfo Cuevas Teja

President, IFT – Federal Institute of Telecommunications, Mexico

Adolfo Cuevas Teja was appointed acting president of the IFT in March 2020.

Mr Cuevas joined public service in 1985, working in the office of the General Attorney of the “Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana” (UAM) and was Counsel there between 1998 and 2002.

In the telecommunications sector, he worked at the Mexican Radio Institute as Legal Assistant Director and was the Counsel in the General Directorate of Radio, Television and Cinematography of the Ministry of Government. He was also an advisor on this matter in the Senate of the Republic.

Mr Cuevas joined the Federal Telecommunications Commission in 2006, where he held the positions of Area Director and General Director of Resolutions and Agreements Projects “D”. On September 10, 2013, he was ratified by the Mexican Senate as Commissioner of the IFT up to 2022.

He has a bachelor degree in Law from “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” (UNAM), where he also obtained a specialty in Constitutional and Administrative Law and a Master in Law. He holds a Master in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University.
