Over the past 25 years Biren has helped build studios and produce cutting-edge Animation, VFX, Games, Comics and XR [AVGC-XR]. For over 15 years, he led Technicolor Group’s Asia Pacific operations, transforming India into the world’s largest visual arts production hub. He has now founded Astra Studios, a bold new force in global creative technology aiming to design bespoke creative systems blending human artistry with AI intelligence.
Biren serves as Chairman of the CII National AVGC Committee, President of ABAI, and a Governing Body Member of MESC (Media & Entertainment Skills Council). He played a key role in the formulation of India’s National AVGC Policy and the creation of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), where he also served as a pro bono interim CEO in its formative period. His advocacy spans government engagement, industry collaboration, and future-facing initiatives around AI, Machine Learning, Skilling, and IP creation.
Biren previously held senior roles at UTV [now Walt Disney India], Eros International, where he managed India’s first structured film studio slate. He founded Kahani World, an animation IP venture promoting Indian stories globally.
