Bruce Mkhize is an admitted attorney with experience and main interest in Communications Regulatory environment, Media Law, Data Protection, Risk and Compliance Management.
His experience include Public Interest litigation, Human Rights Law, Public Law, Compliance Management, ICT law, Media Law, Consumer Law, Privacy and Data Protection, Policy and Regulatory Environment.
He is currently employed by MultiChoice (Pty) Ltd as Head: Regulatory Compliance. He previously served at senior levels with different regulatory authorities, including Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).
As Head of MultiChoice Regulatory Compliance, his responsibilities include ensuring MultiChoice’s compliance with regulatory obligations that impact on MultiChoice’s entertainment business in South Africa, including, ICASA, Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa, Advertising Regulatory Board, Films and Publications Board, National Consumer Commission and Information Regulator.
At ICASA, he was a Senior Manager responsible for licensing and compliance portfolios. He was also involved in leading various special projects including being the Project Leader of ICASA’s first licensing of Subscription Broadcasting services (Pay TV). He also served as a Project Leader of the conversion of all licences to ensure compliance with the then recently enacted Electronic Communications Act. He was also the Head of Broadcasting Compliance programme.
In his role as a Senior Manager at ICASA, he spearheaded ICASA’s programme on enhancing plurality and diversity across South African communications sector.
Bruce holds BA, LLB degrees from University of KwaZulu Natal and Management Advancement Programme from Wits University.
