She is an associate professor in the Department of Humanities and Communication at Universidad Católica del Uruguay (UCU). She is an affiliate researcher at the Center for Technology and Society (CETYS) and honorary co-director of that center at the Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina). Her work focuses on the governance of digital technologies, their implications and configurations from a global majority and especially a Latin American perspective. Since 2017, she has directed the Diploma in Internet Governance, DiGI. She is an author and guest speaker at various academic and international public policy meetings concerning digital technology governance. She has been a member of the IGF MAG in two periods. She was a member of UNESCO’s Ad Hoc Group of Experts for the drafting of the Recommendation on the Ethics of AI approved by the General Assembly of that organization in 2021 and developed UNESCO’s RAM for Uruguay’s AI strategy in 2024. She publishes in international scientific journals and publishers. Her latest book with Malcolm Campbell Verduyn and Jan Aart Scholte is entitled “Digital Data Governance: Polycentric Perspectives” (Routledge, London, 2024).
