Chan Chuey Hwye

Head of Digital Enablers Department, Digital Adoption Division, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)

Since joining MDEC in 2009, she has been involved in development of the digital infrastructure ecosystem including Cloud and Data Centers, identifying gaps in the supporting supply chain, including policies and regulation which negatively impact these sectors. Her previous role as Lead, Regulatory – Digital Regulatory and Sustainability Department, in MDEC covers the scope in ensuring growth and innovation are supported by progressive policies such as Cloud, AI and regulatory frameworks which span across technology sectors under MDEC. Focus area includes development guidelines for the public sector on AI adoption, involvement in the development of the AI Regulatory Framework, National AI Governance and Ethics.

Currently, she oversees the developmental ecosystem for digital infrastructure that includes Data Centres, AI infrastructure, connectivity, energy ensuring a sustainable growth for the digital economy working with the industry and stakeholders. She leads the team in facilitating and advocating policies for the development of the Data centre and AI infrastructure ecosystem.
